SV Hopper Now Includes Service to Santa Clara!

Silicon Valley (SV) Hopper offers a user-friendly rideshare service through a dedicated app, providing convenient transportation throughout Cupertino, select areas in Santa Clara, and to specific destinations beyond the city limits. Refer to the map below to explore the SV Hopper service area.

SV Hopper is a unique transportation service that works similarly to Uber and Lyft. However, instead of providing a door-to-door service, SV Hopper takes you to a nearby designated stop. This stop is typically the closest street corner to your origin or destination. Individuals with disabilities can receive door-to-door service.

Cupertino Questions

Grant Funded

CalSTA Funding

In 2021, Cupertino staff worked to find alternative funding sources to continue the Via-Cupertino shuttle service after its 18-month pilot program ended. This pursuit led to the development of a grant application for the competitive Transit and Intercity Rail Capital program.

Prior to submitting the application, Cupertino considered expanding the service to several nearby cities and eventually partnered with Santa Clara, which offered various appealing destinations for riders. Cupertino requested $8.465 million to expand service and electrify its vehicle fleet.

In 2022, CalSTA announced that Cupertino would receive the full amount. This TIRCP award funds half of the SV Hopper program for five years.
