CITY OF CUPERTINO
TEEN COMMISSION
NOTICE OF ANNUAL VACANCIES

Notice is hereby given that Cupertino teens are encouraged to apply for four vacancies on the Teen Commission. Applications may be submitted online using the Online Teen Commission Application via www.cupertino.org/vacancies. The application deadline is 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2024. The City Council will conduct interviews beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26 and Thursday, June 27 (as needed).

Eligibility Requirements: The Teen Commission is comprised of nine members, at least one person from each public middle school and public high school in Cupertino, if possible. Membership on the Commission is limited to Cupertino residents. Members may attend schools outside of the City limits, or be schooled at home. Commissioners must be in the 8th through 11th grade at time of appointment. None of the Teen Commissioners shall be otherwise officials or employees of the City of Cupertino nor be related by blood or marriage to any official or employee of the City. Commissioners should reflect the broadest possible representation of Cupertino youth. Teen Commissioners serve two-year staggered terms.  

Powers and Functions: The powers and functions of the Teen Commission are to advise the City Council and staff on issues and projects important to youth (also see Municipal Code 2.95.080 Powers and Functions).

Meeting Schedule: Regular meetings are scheduled September through August, once monthly (except December) for a total of 12 meetings on the second Wednesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at the Quinlan Community Center, 10185 N. PUBLIC SAFETY COMMISSION
SPECIAL NOTICE OF VACANCY


Notice is hereby given that the City of Cupertino is accepting applications for one unscheduled vacancy on the Public Safety Commission. The vacancy occurred when Commissioner Rohan Pandit resigned. The remainder term of this vacancy expires on 1/30/25.  The vacancy is open until filled.  Applications can be submitted via the Online Commission Application at www.cupertino.org/vacancies.  For more details, please see the website or call the City Clerk's Office at 408-777-3223.

PUBLIC SAFETY COMMISSION

Eligibility Requirements: The Commission consists of five members, all of whom shall reside within the City and shall be appointed by the City Council to serve four-year, overlapping terms. None shall be officials or employees of the City, members of the Sheriff’s Department of the County, either regular or reserve, nor shall they be members of the Central Fire Protection District. No members of the Public Safety Commission shall cohabit with, as defined by law, nor be related by blood or marriage to any member of the Commission, the City Manager or the staff person(s) assigned to this Commission.  

Powers and Functions: The powers and functions are to advise the City Council on all areas relating to public safety, traffic, and police, fire and other matters relating to the foregoing. The Public Safety Commission falls under the Political Reform Act of 1974 and members are required to submit Statements of Economic Interest upon appointment and annually thereafter.

Notice is hereby given that the City of Cupertino is accepting applications for one unscheduled vacancy on the Arts and Culture Commission. The vacancy occurred when Commissioner Dana Ford resigned. ARTS AND CULTURE COMMISSION

Eligibility Requirements: The Commission consists of five members appointed by Council for four-year terms. At least three shall be Cupertino residents. None of the members shall be employees or officials of the City, nor cohabit with as defined by law, nor be related by blood or marriage to any member of the Commission, the City Manager or staff person assigned to the Commission.

Powers and Functions: The powers and functions of the Arts and Culture Commission are to foster, encourage and assist the realization, preservation and advancement of arts and culture for the benefit of the citizens of Cupertino. The Arts and Culture Commission falls under the Political Reform Act of 1974 and members are required to submit Statements of Economic Interest upon appointment and annually thereafter.
