Library Commission

The Library Commission consists of five members appointed by the City Council to four-year, overlapping terms. The commission advises the Council on the adequacy of library service within the community and such other matters relating to library service as specified by the City Council; and serves as liaison between the City and the Santa Clara County library system (also see Municipal Code 2.68.070 Duties–Powers–Responsibilities).

Meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. on the first Wednesday of every other even numbered month, at the Cupertino Library, 10800 Torre Avenue, Room 201A.

Bio: Archana Panda is a software engineer at Wells Fargo. She has three children who are at various stages of education. Besides technology Archana has passion towards poetry, literature and music. She is a radio jockey from last 8 years and is a fitness instructor.

Bio: Sheela has been a resident of Cupertino since May 2005. She and her husband Sree have twin boys who attended Cupertino schools and graduated from Monta Vista in Fall 2020. Sheela grew up in India and migrated to bay area about two decades ago and has been in tech industry since then as a senior program/product manager. Sheela and her husband along with their hiking buddies have discovered during pandemic that they love hiking and they have been into exploring all the trails in bay area since last year. Suggestions welcome! Sheela’s other hobbies include reading, artwork, gardening, cooking and music.

Bio: Janki Chokshi is an Artist by profession. She is the President of Fine Arts League of Cupertino and has been a leading Art entrepreneur and Art teacher for the past 20 years. She is involved with several community services through Cupertino Rotary.

 

Liyan Zhao

Bio: Liyan Zhao has been living in the Cupertino School District for 26 years. She is a mom of four sons, two of them having already graduated from Lynbrook, and another two are Lynbrook seniors. She is a retired software engineer for Santa Clara County, and has been involved in public serve for more than 20 years. Currently, she is the Co-President of the Asian American Parents Association and serves on the board for the Fremont Union High School Foundation.

Liyan is active writer and the founder of the popular sMagazine "Raising Kids in North America." She has written more than 100 articles sharing her experience raising kids from different perspectives. She is the co-author of three books which have been published by Tsinghua University Press and Changjiang Literature and Art Publishing House. You can find her articles published in World Journal, Sing Tao Daily, and Jing Kids.
