Big Bunny 5K

Thank you for joining the City for our 2023 Big Bunny 5K and Kids Fun Run

On Saturday, April 8, the City hosted its annual Big Bunny 5K and Kids Fun Run. More than 500 participants were met with perfect running weather as they ran, walked, strolled, and hopped through the streets of Cupertino. In addition, more than 100 little bunnies ran a lap or two around Library Field. All bunnies, big and small, received a t-shirt, race bib, participant medal, and bunny ears to wear during the race.

Thank you to everyone who attended, supported, and made this event a success. We look forward to seeing you again on March 30, 2024!

5K Race

It’s the main event, the 5K (3.1 miles) race; run, walk or hop at your own pace, it’s up to you. Your registration includes a shirt, finisher medal, and that enormous sense of accomplishment you feel as you cross the finish line.

You could even score a special award, the top 3 male and female finishers in each age division receive a special top finisher medal. Just don’t be late, the race will start promptly at 8:30 am on Torre Ave (Right in front of Cupertino City Hall).

5K Age divisions: 6-9, 10-12, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+.

Kids Fun Run

If you’re a kid age 7 and younger, we have designed a special course just for you on Library Field. Don’t be late; the Kids Fun Run starts right at 9:30 am. After you sign-up you’ll receive an awesome shirt and a shiny finisher medal.

At the Kids Fun Run, everyone is a winner, so we do not time the event. We just want you to have fun running with your friends and family. If you are a younger kid, age 4 and under, you will run one lap on the course, and if your mom or dad is a bit nervous, you can bring them with you. If you are an older kid, age 5 and older, you get to run two laps.

Registration

How do I register for the Big Bunny 5K and kids fun Run?
Register online at Big Bunny 5K 2022 Registration it is quick and easy. Race registration is first-come, first-serve. It’s possible we might sell out before registration closes, so get registered today!

What if I have a problem with my registration?
Contact the City of Cupertino Recreation & Community Services office by phone at 408.777.3327 or by email at recreation@cupertino.org

What is your refund policy?
You can request a refund up to 8 calendar days before the start of the Big Bunny 5K. No refunds will be issued within 8 days of the event.

5k Race

Do I need to wear my race bib?
Yes, the timing chip is attached to your bib and must be worn for your time to count.

Can I walk the 5K?
Yes, you can run, walk, stroll, or hop. Set your own pace, it all up to you.

Can I run with my stroller?
Yes, please line up at the end of the start line next to the “Runner’s with Strollers” sign.

Is there a finisher’s medal?
Yes, all participants will receive a finisher medal. Also, the top 3 male and female finishers in the following age categories will receive a special award medal. 5K Race Divisions: 6-9, 10-12, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+.

Will there be medical help on the race course and at the finish line?
CERT & Santa Clara County Fire will be on hand to handle any medical issues that arise during the race.

Kids Fun Run

Where and when does the Kids Fun Run start?
The Kids Fun Run starts on Library Field at 9:30 a.m.

Can I run with my kids?
Yes, if your little hoppers need some extra help and encouragement, parents may run with their kids.

Will there be supervision for my kids while I am participating in the 5K Run?
No, parents participating in the 5K race will need to arrange supervision for their kids. Also, any kid participating in the Kids Fun Run may join their families on the 5K course.

I am participating in the 5K, can my kids come with me?
Yes, any registered kids in either the fun run or the 5K may join their families on the 5K course.

Where can I park?
Free parking is available at the Cupertino Civic Center and the Prometheus Parking Garage. Parking is not allowed on Torre Ave. Between Pacifica and Rodrigues or at the Cupertino Office Complex buildings. Vehicles parked in these areas will be ticketed. We encourage our residents to walk to the Cupertino Civic Center to afford those coming from out of town an easier time finding parking.

What if it rains?
The Big Bunny 5K will take place rain or shine.

2022 Recap

The Big Bunny 5K Race and Kids Fun Run took place on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at the Cupertino Civic Center, with more than 500 community members joining the City in either running through the streets of Cupertino as part of the 5K or running in the shorter Kids Fun Run on the Library field. After three years, this bunny themed, in-person event made its return to the City of Cupertino. Thank you to everyone who attended and supported this event. We look forward to seeing you again in 2023.
