Assume all downed power lines are electrified and dangerous.
Report downed power lines immediately by calling 9-1-1 and call PG&E at 1-800-743-5002.

- Plan for your safety and the safety of your community by driving defensively and avoiding unnecessary travel when driving conditions are hazardous.
- Allow time for traffic delays, buckle up all passengers, turn off cruise control when the roads are wet, and reduce speed by utilizing headlights during periods of fog.
- Move over to allow emergency vehicles to pass and drive safely through road work zones.
- When power is out, treat traffic signals as stop signs. Come to a complete stop before proceeding with caution.
- Driving or walking into flood waters is NEVER safe when roadways are flooded. Turn around, don’t drown.
- Check on frail or elderly family, friends, or neighbors often.
- Get out of wet clothes as soon as possible to avoid hypothermia.

City Response
City Departments are taking the following Actions
Public Works
- Annual maintenance and preventative work has been completed in advance of the winter season
- Fields remain closed due to recent rains
- Staff are conducting a preemptive survey of storm drains and any higher-risk areas for obstructions
- Sandbags are prefilled and available at the Service Center (10555 Mary Avenue)
- Residents should call County Communications at 408-299-2507 over the weekend to report storm related items.
Community Development
- After the event, Code Enforcement and Building Inspection Staff will evaluate sites likely to have been impacted by storm winds and rains
- Permit Center staff will be in person Wednesday and Thursday
Parks and Recreation
- Stevens Creek Corridor staff have made preparations in case of rapid water rise in the creeks; however, water levels are currently low and not expected to overflow
- Fields remain closed due to recent rains
City Manager's Office
- OEM Staff are participating in countywide coordination calls
- OEM is coordinating with County Sheriff and Fire Department
- Updates have been provided for public access at Current Incidents webpage
- OEM will share a situation report with Block Leaders and Citizen Corps volunteers who will share widely
- OEM will send social media and GovDelivery updates to the general public

- Visit the self-serve sandbag station just outside the City Maintenance Yard parking lot located at 10555 Mary Ave to obtain free pre-filled sandbags. Free, filled sandbags are also available for residents at other County sites listed HERE.

- Valley Water’s ALERT (Automated Local Evaluation in Real Time) system provides information on levels of streams and reservoirs and precipitation gauges.
