3.3 What/How are Block Leaders expected to Communicate?

Block Leaders receive emails on a variety of topics including City news, local volunteering opportunities, and hazards. Block Leaders are expected to pass this information on to their neighbors, serving to keep the community informed. If there are neighborhood concerns, questions, or areas of interest, Block Leaders should contact the Community Relations Coordinator or the appropriate authority (I.e. Police, Fire, 311). The Community Relations Coordinator is not a dispatcher and cannot file a crime report or request medical aid on a resident’s behalf. In life-threatening situations call 911.

In the event of disaster, a Block Leader’s first priority is always the safety of themselves and their household. With the permission of their neighbors, Block Leaders report their neighborhood’s status to their ARK or reporting location. If properly trained, Block Leaders may perform neighborhood assessments.

Always follow the instructions of emergency personnel. If told to evacuate, do so immediately.
