Groundbreaking Ceremony

The community members at The Forum hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on September 13, 2018 - a celebration of many years of working together to benefit senior residents with new independent living opportunities, memory care building, and additions and 21st century upgrades to the assisted living facility, skilled nursing facility, dining, fitness and multi-purpose building.

PUBLIC HEARING

The City Council approved this proposal at a public hearing on Tuesday, April 17, 2018.

On March 27, 2018, the Planning Commission held a public hearing and recommended approval of the proposal.

Application Summary:

The Forum at Rancho San Antonio is a continuing care retirement community that currently exists on a 51.5-acre site at 23500 Cristo Rey Drive. The proposed project includes renovations and additions to the existing facilities as follows:

 

  1. Development permit (DP-2017-01) and environmental analysis (EIR) (EA-2017-01) to allow additions and renovations in a Planned Development Zoning District.
  2. Architectural and site approval (ASA-2017-03) for renovations and additions to the existing facilities, as well as new buildings resulting in 23 new independent living villas, 10 new beds and 46,026 square feet of renovations and additions to the skilled nursing facility, 10,500 square feet of renovations to the assisted living facility, 26 new beds in a 39,000-square-foot new memory care building, and 27,000 square feet of renovations and additions to the commons facilities (dining, fitness and multi-purpose room) with associated site and landscaping improvements.
  3. Tree removal permit (TR-2018-06) allow the removal and replacement of 28 protected trees.

ARCHIVE TIMELINES 

The 45-day public review period for the Draft EIR started on Friday, December 15, 2017 and ended on Monday, January 29, 2018.  The Draft EIR was available for review at the City’s website at (www.cupertino.org), at the Community Development Department counter, and the Cupertino Library. A public meeting to receive comments on the the Draft EIR was held before the Environmental Review Committee on January 18, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Cupertino City Hall, 10300 Torre Avenue, Conference Room C.

Comments on the Draft EIR were due no later than the close of the 45-day review period at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 29, 2018 to CatarinaK@cupertino.gov with “The Forum EIR” as the subject. Public agencies providing comments were asked to include a contact person for the agency.
